This is ridiculous. A status call should be no more then 30 seconds.

Typical government service
Do you want to know how many people are calling Passport Canada these days? Put in an ATIP request and you want to find out.

But I am willing to bet their lines are absolutely flooded. And most callers are probably spending more than 30 seconds on the line asking about status etc. How do I know? Because I have listened in on calls before. Some people even call just to talk to someone.

Also, from an operational point of view, you cannot staff up the phone lines immediately. Firstly, if they just hired a bunch of agents and immediately put the on the phone, you'd be complaining that the agent didn't know what they were talking about. Secondly, you need the physical infrastructure. How do you know that each call centre is not already working at capacity or over-capacity? I'd be willing to argue that currently, they are working at capacity if not over.

But I guess you're entitled to say whatever you want. The government will never win and I am just wasting my time.
