I'm visiting my in-laws in Dexter, Maine, this August. I figured that, as some 'get-away-from-inlaw' time, my husband and I could drive to Bar Harbor, take the ferry to Nova Scotia, and spend 4 days/3 nights, probably around Halifax.
I've never been to that part of Canada. I would love a recommendation for an inexpensive (around $100 a night or less) clean hotel or B&B, places to eat/drink, some sights to see and places to go.
We are big folks, so a place with a big bed is best (we don't really work on a double). We will have a car, so don't mind driving around. We like to have a pint or two in the evenings after dinner, he likes Guinness, I like Cider. We love seafood (wow, that'll be hard to find in NS

) and new tastes.
We like historical sights, beautiful vistas. I'm a photographer who sells photos, so lighthouses and lovely coves are great. He is more interested in the Indian burial grounds (he's 1/4 Indian).
What are your suggestions? Help me plan an itinerary, please!
