While this solution may work on other forums, it clearly does not on the AA forum. What happens on the AA forum is if the people with the answers ignore a thread, suddenly there are a dozen posts from people with fake answers, mistaken answers, and some answers that are (IMO) intentionally misleading. Now, one person posting the correct answer is not sufficient, as those unfamiliar with the board and its members will not recognize the right answer from all the wrong ones. A dozen or more members posting the correct answer are needed to at least provide balance to the incorrect answers, and give the hapless neophyte a fighting chance of picking the right answer. This is, of course, a noticable and needless drain on the time of those who have the answers to the questions that the thoughtful, considerate majority would like answered.
As to why this doesn't happen on other boards, I have no answer. I accept your statement that it doesn't. I would love to see the situation that seems to pertain on other boards migrate here, but don't know how to make it happen. If you know, please advise.
