What's the purpose of the trip?

In summary, one (Bintan) has a bunch of resorts on its North coast and the other (Batam) is an industrial suburb of Singapore.

There's quite a bit been mentioned in this forum in the past. If you want to lie on a beach then Bintan may do the job, but you might not want to go into the water...
