Platinum points is a very small step in the right direction.

Lets face it NWA's program sucks compared to AA for anyone who flys Internationally. AA gives 8 free any class upgrades a year. NWA gives ZERO.

Now with NWA, assuming you fly internationally on full fare you can earn 2 upgrades.

The positive thing in my mind is NW seem to be recognising their lack of international upgrades is a weakness in the program.

Their method of addressing is very interesting. You basically have to fly full fare business to get the upgrades, but full fare flyers don't need them? I guess there will be a lot of happy partners around.
