Another bump. Just stayed there for three nights.

First impression: When a hotel has such a large footprint that the front desk has maps to show guests the route to their rooms, I immediately get a bad taste in my mouth. Fortunately my club level room was less than a three minute journey from the lobby, including the one-floor elevator ride (never did find the stairs).

HVAC is noisy, to the point where I turned it off when I was using the phone. The room itself was standard, with a good-sized L-shaped desk. Internet is wireless-only, which I caved and ended up using once ($9.95/24 hours) since I wasn't getting a 3G signal on Cingular in the hotel (or anywhere else in town, for that matter).

Room service is unimpressive. My first order came without a napkin, flatware, or the ice water I'd requested. The on-site restaurant has the same menu, and is also nothing special. Unfortunately there isn't much within easy walking distance -- you have to cross I-25 to get to the shopping center which has the old standbys like Chili's and Outback.

The hotel runs a shuttle to the airport every half hour (~15 minutes one way).

I didn't have a car, since I was attending a conference at the Broadmoor (which was unfortunately sold out) and there were shuttle buses running back and forth. Taxi service is okay -- sometimes there will be one or two cars waiting out front, otherwise it's about 20 minutes if you call for a pickup.

The lounge is open for breakfast during the week and for evening hors d'oeuvres Monday through Thursday, at least according to the sign posted at the entrance. It also appeared to be open this morning (Saturday). I only went there for breakfast; they had scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon plus bagels, cereal and fruit.

Overall, the $184 rate I paid was toward the high end of the range (the rooms are posted with a $219 rack rate) and I'd certainly never pay that for a leisure visit. I'd hate to have been stuck with a room on the fringe of the property in the next zip code, but being close to the lobby made that a non-issue. On-site dining and room service are mediocre at best with little else in the immediate area, but the room was comfortable and was in good physical shape, although the loud HVAC was bothersome.
