Sounds like the flight attendant did the least disruptive action possible. She sent the last op upgraded passenger back to the seating area they paid for and put this passenger in that seat.
How would a FA know which pax was the last to be upgraded? I'm told FAs have a PIL that lists all pax and their fare codes and status, but is upgrade order also shown?
