StarWorld®: Two Alliances Become One

In April 2007, Star Alliance™ and oneworld®, the world's two largest airline alliances, will join forces and become one. The merger creating StarWorld has created the world's largest and finest alliance of air carriers. StarWorld's network includes 28 member airlines flying to over 1,000 airports in nearly 200 countries. The new alliance includes:

* Cathay Pacific
* LOT Polish Airlines
* Finnair
* Iberia
* Japan Airlines (JAL)

* Malév Hungarian Airlines
* Qantas
* Royal Jordanian
* Scandinavian Airlines
* Singapore Airlines
* South African Airways
* Spanair
* SWISS
* Tap Portugal
* THAI
* United Airlines
* US Airways


StarWorld Managing Partner John McCulloch said: "Today is a truly historic day for the StarWorld alliance, for our member airlines and for our customers worldwide. The merger has enabled StarWorld to broaden its coverage in every region in the world for air travel. We have added the quality and strength of many great brands to form the world's largest airline alliance, and further increased the value, choice and range that we offer our StarWorld customers."

In addition, StarWorld announces a new logo, a silver five-pointed star within a blue sphere. The brand – including the new logo – represents the promise that StarWorld strives to deliver, and it lets the customer know that wherever they are in the world, we are there to help them enjoy a smooth travel experience.

Finally, StarWorld is please to announce its new frequent flyer status benefits. There are three levels of recognition:

StarWorld Silver®
StarWorld Gold®
StarWorld Platinum®

StarWorld Silver and Gold status will provide the same benefits as Star Alliance Silver and Gold did in the past.

StarWorld Platinum will provide all the benefits of StarWorld Gold plus the following additional benefits for our most loyal customers, who have flown at least 1.6 million km (1 million miles) during the previous calendar year:

* A chauffeur-driven limousine will pick you up from any location within 100 km (60 miles) of the airport.
* Free internet access, if available, throughout your journey.
* One free round-the-world trip in First Class on the StarWorld airlines of your choice.
* No capacity controls or black-out dates for frequent flyer award tickets on any StarWorld member airline.
* Personal escort of your choice will accompany you and provide services to you while you are flying to your destination. Tips are not included.

On April 1, 2007, StarWorld will unveil its new www.starworld.com website. In order to better serve the needs of the combined alliance, customer, the StarWorld website will be available in ten different languages – Arabic, English, French, German, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swahili.
