I flew 925 last night and their circa 1980s video system had major tracking problems. The FA informed us that this particular machine doesn't have a manual tracking control for them to adjust/fix the problem.

Thus, we cycled through three movies in 40 minutes having to finally turn off the system. People were annoyed and some guy asked if they were still using Betamax.

Two questions:

(1) Does UA plan to upgrade to DVD or something that at least has manual tracking controls for their in-flight entertainment?

(2) Does UA provide any compensation (miles or coupons) for a complete failure of the system on a flight?
