No, of course not. My opinions are my own and I make no claims to the contrary. The OP was asking for opinions,
ipso facto ... you gave your opinion, I gave mine, and the OP got what he asked for.
And this is a "no brainer" for everyone? Again, this is a personal decision. For me, it is a no-brainer to use the miles since I have very many and likely will not use them all. So, the money costs me money, which I could use for something else. The miles cost me nothing since they would just sit there anyway.
Generalizations like these (and most others) definitely do not apply to everyone.

To clarify, my
opinion is that paying the money versus the miles is a better option.
The "no brainer" comment was aimed at the value of being an AC member, regardless of how one might choose to pay for the membership.
