I suspect the more the widespread issue is the contamination of the sterile lens solution - it's doubtful that many people take the time to thoroughly sterilize the smaller bottles before filling.
Agreed. I don't think I would ever transfer contact lens solution to a smaller bottle because of possible contamination.
