an immigration-queing-tip for non-US-passport-holders (worked for me at UA-IAD several times):

I take the 'line' next to the US-passport-holders. Often, after all/most US-passport-holders have passed through that next line, they change that desk to 'for non-US-passport-holders'. I keep my eyes open and will be ready (like at the start of a 100m sprint ...).
