How Hertz charged more than triple!!!!
Last February, I rented a category I (equ. monospace/7 places van/Espace Renault or S-Max Ford) for 4 days. Contract shows 166 euros all included. I brought back the car 3 hours after official return time. Instead of 6 pm, it was 9 pm (after crossing whole France and getting wide traffic jam on my way).
In spain, where I live, I am used to get charged for one more day if arrival is late. In France (city of Lille), it seems it is different. Indeed, the fifth day is understood as a full week. So they charged me a full week which means 563 euros instead of my 166 euros, equivalent of 3,4 times the initial price.
I wrote to french Hertz customer service that answered me that this invoice was normally charged with correct fare code etc...
I was outraged and shocked.
I will make all my best to modify there statement together french defense of consumers authorities and association.
What do you think about this? Would you agree with Hertz even this late triple the initial tarif agreed on the contract? Is there any other threads on this issue? Are the contract and conditions differents from each European countries?
Thanks for bringing your comments on this matter.
Jer.
