As for the OP, if you want to put out some departure/arrival cities, I'm sure some FT people could search for some different award possibilities. You should definitely be able to go to BZE, LIM or other such places for $600-1000.

on copaair.com you cannot book flights from say, new orleans, even though the FA's announce that the msy-iah flight is operated in cooperation with COPA, every single time. however, if it was available, id be flying msy-iah-pty-somewhere in C or S america as opposed to a msy-iah-somewhere in C or S america. copa really only works efficiently for people in MCO, JFK, LAX or MIA.
also, i thought WP elites were also allowed free upgrades on COPA flights. i could sware they used to be allowed. has it changed or did it never exist?
