BAD Check In Nice UG

Stayed here on Friday and Saturday night last week having booked a Mayfair Room for £199 incl Breakfast for 2.

Arrived at Hotel at 4pm to be told that I had got my RA upgrade 2 levels and that the room would be a few minutes, no seperate check in area but quick and easy. Sent to the bar for complimentary drink.

After 2 hours of back and forth and being fobbed off with "just 5 more minutes sir" they offered a standard room until mine was ready, but they admitted, they had a maintenance problem with it and couldn't say when, if ever, it would be fixed.

I said I wanted the upgraded room and would wait but as I had a dinner engagement was anxious to get this sorted one way or another. During the 2 hour wait then a further 30 mins they didn't update me once on what was going on. I asked for the general manager and was promised he would appear but 2 mins later the check in staff arrived with keys for a suite overlooking the park / palace etc with a great view.

Bags arrived another hour later.

The room itself was nice and well appointed and was very comfortable, however, a few observances :

No Club access (£60 I think)
In Room Dining is scandalously priced (although I expect it wont be cheap £30for breakfast is harsh)
No Tea and Coffee making (but kettle and cups on table ?)

Concierge and Door staff were very attentive and freindly, breakfast time was not great but ok. As usual the chef knocks up eggs and ommlettes but then forgets where you are and left them all piled up by his hot plate. He then gets a bollocking from his boss in front of the whole staff and guests and carry's on regardless.

If you can get in on a BOGOF or low rate its great, they seemed to have a backlog of checkin issues both days with lots of people camped in the bar so be warned !
