Just exchange your TC at the hotel for local currency. IME, the rates of exchange aren't that bad at the hotels I stay in. But I usually just go to the local Citibank ATM and withdraw what I need for the trip.

All the fine hotels and restaurants usually take MC/Visa and sometimes AE, but I've never tried using a discoverer card.
