Well, to try and maybe answer your question (which would be more appropriate for the Washington forum, BTW), lots of times when you start a flight sim all of the traffic from the past hour or so goes to the runway at once, not taking into account real time. I believe DCA typically only uses one runway at a time for takeoff. Wow, I feel like I am on airliners.net, so will stop while I am not losing...
I know that when you start up Flight Sim, almost all the planes leave. I mean, well into the trip. Like 5 hours later, when traffic clears out. It gets quite realistic, bud.
And as pathetic it may sound, I do sit in my plane on the side of the runway, set the speed rate to 4x and watch the planes come and go for hours. Mostly I am checking if the right flight has arrived on time, and if there's anything missing from the real schedule. Tommorow it's time to check on PIT. Today was DCA.
And as for flying, I do it too...
Recently I'm doing all A320 in New Colors.
