Just talked to the PP Int'l Res line to upgrade with miles for an April roundtrip LGW-PHL-LGW.
I got this booked in Q class so I could move upfront, but now that I got off the phone, I am really confused:
First, the agent upgrades me for 10,000 miles LGW-PHL and gives me a seat in row 1 (NOT complaining, but I thought this was 30,000 miles and reserved for CP and GoSleeper).
Then she tells me for the PHL-LGW segment that there are no upgrade seats left and that they don't do wait lists anymore for seats that may be released a few days before the actual flight date as they used to. The only option would be to upgrade on the day of departure at the gate.
I've only upgraded a few times for TA before but this was all news to me.
Can anybody confirm this process or do I need to call back and hope to get a different agent to do something about the PHL-LGW segment?
Goodness. Who on earth did you speak to? Q class upgrades are 30,000 miles e/w, so expect that to be the amount deducted from your account, as DM will probably spot the error here. Also, the airport will see you used miles to upgrade from coach, and will probably ask for $300 if you want row 1, as you've not purchased a sleeper seat, but a standard Envoy mileage upgrade.
In terms of your return, with no upgrade seats available, the agent is correct in stating that manual waitlists for upgrades no longer exist. Passengers are offered upgrades based on status on day of departure.
Are you preferred? If so, would will be on the automated list for an upgrade on your return, provided you still have 30,000 miles in your account on day of departure... sorry about the confusion - were you talking to Mexico City res by any chance?
