This is something the US carriers like us to believe, but it's hohwash. They are certainly allowed to use glass on the ground. They just need to pick it up before departure. It's being cheap, 'plane' and simple.

It was huge and not one of those dinky side salads you usually get.
That's because the full sized salad WAS the entree (mid-con lunch?). That's not what I'm talking about, though. I'm saying CO does a full sized salad after the appetizer and before the entree. If you got a full sized salad before your entree on a mid-con, it was a catering error. And the
Legendary BJ is talking about
TRANSCONS, not midcons.

Yes, each course was served separately. But it took so long. Too long. I fell asleep between courses.
My flight had no printed menus. But I didn't feel slighted in the least.
Leather seats.... Yuch. Too hot, too slippery.
No channel 9.
Too long??? A common complaint on the CO board is that they rush the transcon service...
Also, you're more than welcome to ask for everything at once. They do an express dine, for that that want.
No printed menus is a HUGE mistake on CO, and I've NEVER seen it happen.

No, I'm talking about one-way prices. For instance, on EWR-SFO:

That's UA's problem, since they choose not to pay the duty on the other booze. They are more that welcome to, if they wish, but they choose not to. On international carriers, I get whatever the heck I want pre-departure. As you say, SQ pays the tax, as does LH. UA doesn't.

Second question, if the CO transcon service is a BusinessFirst seat on a 757-200 (i.e. the 7:15 a.m. SFO-EWR service), how would you stack that up against UA PS business? Thanks!
CO transcon F meal service is better than ps C (with inferior wines), but not as good as ps F. If you can get one of the 2xday BusinessFirst planes EWR-LAX, then you're almost in ps F, for 1/4th the cost. If not, remember it's domestic F seating, so ps C is better. CO domestic F has no in-seat power. The BF planes have 110 volt plugs
and AVOD!
