Why is it wrong to post threads on this problem, and often? This is a lot more important that posts about a trick florist coupon drive or other nonsense.
As I see it, you certainly seem to be barking up the right tree -- Delta is still paranoid about frequent flyers using the "benefits" of the SkyMiles program for DL flights, particularly international ones, instead of paying for tickets.
