I was getting a little worried about the opened avaliability for Hawai'i upgrades using Plat Points, but from what I've read, they can't be redeemed on Sat. and Sun.
Also, it should be noted that gifted elite status would be good till Feb. 2006 -- that's quite a long time! Anyone wanna trade on the CC?
In general, I think it's a great idea to reward higher revenue Plat elites (e.g., Radiocycle) with more perks, but I'm very frustrated at the fact that there will be less F seats left around for us gold and silver riff-raff. Oh well... at least I'm not flying those (C)rummy(O)ther airlines.

I am audited by my company on ticket costs and must be prepared to justify any ticket that is more expensive than the current "sale" prices at the time of purchase.
I usually fly on discount tickets (Fare dewsignators: L, V, K, Q, M and H (using "B" fares only when no other option exists)
While I fly a lot, all in North America, I expect it would be very hard for me to reach tier One (150 Points) even flying over 175K/year.
The only way I would be successful with this promotion is there were opportunities to earn Platinum points for:
1) number of purchased tickets per quarter 2) number of partner stays i.e. Hotels, Car Rentals, etc
3) Domestic promotions with H, M, Q fares.
