Coin lockers in Tokyo stn - how long can u store stuff?

I'll be in Tokyo in a week, and will travel around the country (by train, of course). Want to leave some of my big bags in Tokyo stn while I travel. Have read some spotty reports that 3 days is the max storage time.

Is this true?
If you exceed 3 days, do they "destroy" your luggage (as the friendly TSA-voice lady in US airports is fond of saying)?
How do they know you've been there for 3 days?
Is it EXACTLY 3 days - ie.72 hrs - or can you do, say 75 or 77 hours and get away with it?

My plans have me needing storage for literally about 75 hours.

I have used the (wonderful!) takkyubin services in the past to transport my stuff for me, and would definitely recommend it, but this time around, I don't want to part with so much of my money.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
