I use the Kodansha Tokyo bilingual map book every day I am in Tokyo, I think it's lots more useful than most guides (especially if you have internet access to check out what's to see). The Japan Bilingual atlas is a lot less helpful, it seems to be too sketchy on roads and rail lines for me.

Neither is badly out of date, though.
