One thing to watch on Eastern is that even hand luggage is taken off you as you step onto the plane, and put in a separate hold, then returned to you as you disembark. They don't mind you taking a book or some papers, but there's no room for bags inside the cabin.

That said they're very friendly, and have a full bar including champagne, albeit in plastic glasses which have to be assembled in flight!
