I have used AA for skysaver type awards and have had no problem in getting what I want. I personally think that DL is at the point of deceptive advertising when it comes to mileage redemption awards.
The new "Calendar" feature definitely makes that long line of unavaialble standard (i.e., SkySaver) award dates more obvious.

And for my needs and interestes, DL is much more of a tightwad when it comes to award space than AA on international routes -- even as a DL Platinum.
