I know that this has been discussed many times, but I agree with the OP. The Delta Skymiles miles value has been gradually devalued by the increased lack of Skysaver seat availabilty. It is very obvious when one looks at the new DL.com redemption calendar.
I have used AA for skysaver type awards and have had no problem in getting what I want. I personally think that DL is at the point of deceptive advertising when it comes to mileage redemption awards.
The new "Calendar" feature definitely makes that long line of unavaialble standard (i.e., SkySaver) award dates more obvious.
And for my needs and interestes, DL is much more of a tightwad when it comes to award space than AA on international routes -- even as a DL Platinum.
