As far as I recall (from my trip with the Amanwana Komodo expedition) there are several species of dragons but the varano komodensis lives only in Komodo and its sister island Rinca (actually we saw only one in captivity in Komodo and dozens wild in Rinca). They hunt buffalos, lacerate them with their big claws and leave them bleeding and come back to eat when the prey is too weak to react. Really impressive.
