I feel your pain..... The morons at UA can't deal with we sad folks who have a first initial, like J. Edgar Hoover. Poor Jedgar gets "JE Hoover" on all his tickets if he selects "myself" as the ticketed party over United-dot-bomb. THEN, at SFO (but nowhere else I travel), you get to meet the surly "TEAM SFO" contracted TSA-substitute agents who look down their nose at you, snort, and announce attitudinally "We Don't DO 'initials'.....", and send you back to the ticket line, fuming and late.

THEN, after your purgatory in line behind others, you are treated by UA to a new boarding pass, which ALSO lists you as "JE Hoover", but contains the dreaded "SSSS" designation, setting you up for a delightful delay as the same TEAM SFO agents now sneer at you and wave you into the wanding line, despite your now SSSS'd initials.

Apparently the Einsteins who run security, UA, the moron TEAM SFO team, etc. all expect our next terrorist attack to come from someone with a first initial instead of using their hated given name...... and UA won't change your frequent flier account without a court order.

I never ticket "myself". I just ticket someone with my middle name, which gets me in every time now. Glad to know I pose less of a threat. Never had any problem getting my MP credit, either. I'm sure if your MP acct is O. Bin Laden, YMMV. For the rest of us, so long "J Edgar" and hello "Edgar".
