Yes, UA does have the availability on that flight. I'm not surprised. How many paying passengers would opt for a flight with those timings?
It may not be the optimal flight, but it is a flight. For someone who is extremely flexible it is not that bad. Since the SEA-ANC flight is available, I'd be OK with an overnight. Still a great deal to go to Alaska for 25K miles.
