I made the mistake of joining a native FF program when I lived outside of the country. I just introduced another program to track and split my miles between partner carriers (Star Alliance).

I've flown KE a lot and alway found their miles to post well (with Plat and fare bonus!) to CO.

I would stick with CO, but am intrigued by comment about lifetime status...
