The DC9's have been totally rebuilt and had an additional 100,000 cycles.

The age, based on manufacture date is a little misleading. Perhaps the functional life (remaing cycles) should be the benchmark for calculating "oldest fleet"

So while the DC9's were originally delivered in the mid 1960's they are in the middle of thier second cycle life and not abny older than many of the 737's that are flying.
