I would like to see where it is stated they compensate for mechanical delays?

How much? If I were to call DL and say my plane was late 30 min., would they compensate me. Or do they do it automatically? Never seen it.

Also if a plane has a mechanical delay at 7am and runs 90 min late, do they compensate all passengers for the full day as they cannot catch up on the schedule the entire day? After all, the delays downstream were caused by an earlier mechancial.

I have been on lots of airlines with mechanical delays, and probably been compensated 2-3 times (when flight was delayed for 2+ hours or cancelled).
