Hidden in all this is the sad fact that you Yanks have allowed a paranoid administration to gain far more info into your private affairs then ever should have been allowed. You've also allowed them to do their best to sabotage one of the world's great trading relationships.
While the world's longest undefended border should have been held up to the rest of humanity as the best of what can be done between nations, it is instead seen as some horrible, scary, thing by idiots in both parties. I think idiots--if there were just 100 of them involved with the enforcement of this, 90 come from the USA--have started to gain a serious footing within certain positions that are creating a growing problem.
