indeed... but it's not news. This 'benefit' is well-known to have significant limitations, and has been discussed throughout this forum ad nauseum. It is probably the least valuable benefit of the PP Elite card. Occasionally you may find a bargain, but probably only for high dollar fares.

by the way, does united have a best price guarantee? If so, your situation lends itself to a price match.
