This has happened to me as well, also when dealing with SWU account balance and usage issues. On a separate but travel-related note, Starwood seems to ask for my password A LOT when I call, I think whenever I'm doing something related to using points for a hotel night award. Shouldn't happen, but it's hard to argue at that moment, if they insist upon needing that information in order to continue.
