Thumbs up Great Check-in Service in JFK and NNCW Review

I was scheduled on BA114 JFK-LHR in WT+ last night, having picked up very cheap flights in the weekly offers a couple of weeks ago. When checking in (quite early) at the Club World desk, unprompted, the check-in agent said "Oh, 114 is late. Let me see if we can get you out early." A call to her supervisor (?), a review of my circumstances (Silver, no onward connection, WT+) and the business of the earlier plane (very), and I had been upgraded to Club World, since they couldn't get me out earlier. Nice work looking after the passenger!

As this was a Sleeper Service, I ate in the lounge. The pre-flight buffet in the JFK is great - good selection, and very tasty. I also took the opportunity of the delay to get a massage in the MB Spa, for the first time ever. I think I'll be allowing more time to do that again in future.

And so, my first experience of NNCW. Overall, it's definitely an improvement. The bed is softer and more comfortable than the old bed. The dividing screen is a huge improvement - giving great privacy, when travelling alone, but I can see that if you were travelling as a couple, it'd be very intimate. There is a certain "flimsiness" to the new seats, though - when the person behind me pulled down their footstool, my entire chair rattled. Also, when in flat bed mode, the seat would dip forward if I moved forward on it. I don't know whether this was just a problem with my bed, or by design. The new AVOD is good - it has everything you'd expect from flying on other carriers who got there first, and the film choice was pretty good.

The sleeper service was definitely something I'd do again when coming back from NY. I felt great after it.

All in all, I'm a very happy camper today. The best 460 quid I've spent since the AA First fare mistake
