For a while I was flying a lot of transatlantics through EWR, and I had connections of 45-80 min on the outbound and 75 min on the return. Never missed one.

All it took was one severely-delayed 3:00 pm DCA-EWR flight and a sprint from A to C (before the airside shuttle bus was introduced) to induce me to start booking the good ole 1:00 pm DCA-EWR. I've made many 75 minute returns from TATL flights (usually book the 5:00 pm EWR-DCA and standby for the 3:00 if I'm so inclined).
