We all moaned about OLCI not working properly, and not working for families etc etc etc, but now it works for almost all passengers. So why don't we all do ourself a favour and actually use it?

This would mean less queuing for those for whom OLCI is not available. Personally I would prefer Zone R to have a priority queue for these passengers, such as people travelling on AY, or those with onward connections who need onward BPs, as well as for those who have OLCIed and PYOBPed. And make everyone else stand in a big long queue.
I usually use the SSCI machines to collect a BP after having done OLCI (but not PYOBP) previously. However, if I'm checking in a bag, I really don't see the point in the SSCI->FBD route, particularly if you have to queue with non-status and economy pax to get to the FBD.

Priority check in is a very useful benefit and one being seriously diluted by the removal of the desks - not so much at T1 where all pax are priority in Zone R but at those outstations where all pax have to share a slow bag drop. I don't mind being asked (but not forced) to use SSCI, as long as I can avoid queueing with the blue and huddled masses for a bag drop
