It is true on Skyteam that it is often easy to get to NRT, ICN, HKG, PEK, NGO and KIX. But NW has limited connections out of NRT, and KE is decent out of ICN to Southeast Asia. The weakness is Southeast Asia. Having an airline like Malaysia could help. CO out of GUM is often not a daily schedule, and their 737s have only a regular domestic first class cabin, an uncomfortable way to end a 30 hour business trip, having connected through GUM many times.
