I remember seeing combi flights at night out of Dca back in the 1950's in NW's timetables (remember printed timetables?). They were operated by DC4 aircraft and only had room for a few pax. Around that same time period I recall seeing a Delta constellation at Dca and my Dad told me it was just for cargo.
