I think we ought to help newcomers who aren't familiar with MR's, etc, and encourage them to slowly learn for themselves. If the OP had 1,000 posts, then that is another story. I'm relatively new to FT myself, having joined a few months ago, and I was taken aback when I joined by how elitist and rude many FTers can be to each other (myself taking the brunt of it many times). It will ultimately lead to a better online community for everyone, IMO.
As to number of posts, yes, 13 posts points to relative inexperience both with FT much less this forum, but if the OP's old enough to purchase a ticket and do a mileage run, then he/she's also old enough to at least read the stickies first. Indeed, the whole idea behind the stickies is to enable those inexperienced with creating mileage runs to
learn the basics. Having known many teachers in my life, I can assure you that the incentive to learn is removed when everything's simply handed out. (Why bother? There's always someone at the Mileage Run forum who will find me a mileage run.)
I also most certainly agree that there's no place for rudeness or put downs amongst eachother. I've seen them here at FT on occasion and they are indeed counter productive. In reviewing the posts on this thread however, I see neither rudeness nor put downs, simply a nicely worded request to 1.) employ the stickies and 2.) provide a bit more information regarding budget, time allowed, etc.
