Question Added to No Rent List for Driving Too Many Miles?!?!?

I had a hard time believing this one, but apparently a friend of mine who uses National Car Rental on a regular basis has been added to their No Rent list because he drives too many miles in their rental cars. He tried to pick up a car he reserved for the weekend (reserved a compact), and he was told that National will no longer allow him to rent anymore vehicles. My friend demanded to speak to the manager. The manager came out and explained that he was driving too many miles and National was taking a loss each time they rental a vehicle to my friend. It was in the company's best interest for him to takes his business elsewhere (he actually said this).

My friend is now using Hertz after this incident. But I can't believe that National started to screen customers based on their driving habits. If they are resorting to these techniques, then why advertise unlimited miles? Anyone else ever experience something like this?
