Also there's no reason to think "upgrade awards" doesn't include VIPs. I think that's exactly the kind of thing that would include.
You're right - sorry. That should be 4.5% (based on 20% of all AA seats being F or J).
I find it interesting that more people apparently use miles for upgrades than for free tickets.
