It's been my experience that the sound isn't so bad if you're toward the front of the plane. The ride can be more choppy in turbulence than a "big boy" jet. All things considered, if you're on a short hop, they're tolerable. Anything more than 60-90 minutes, and you're going to want to crawl out of your skin...
