This 1P likes it -- when it's implemented correctly.

Because 1Ps are in Seating Group 1, that means we can wait in the regular "blue" line without having to deal with the gate lice and without inconveniencing those who have boarding priority. However, recently at LAX, I experienced at GA who was letting anyone board in the "red" line before taking Group 1 in the "blue." This sparked a near riot when the GA responded to our protests by saying, "Well, it's faster to board this way."

As long as GAs respect the boarding order, I think the red carpet is fine.
