When i went to rebook the flight, there were no flights to NY until monday so i cancelled the Sunday flight and am returning to CVG-TUL today (saturday). In short i am not taking two legs CVG-EWR and EWR-CVG, i figured i'd get somesort of a prorated refund but when i spoke to the agent she said the tickets CVG-TUL were more expensive than EWR-CVG so i would have to pay extra but since it is an involuntary reroute they would call it even.
I don't think this is right and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and could offer some advice.
Forgot to add that the airline is delta and the segments were booked in K class
Typically for weather situations the airline attitude is that it is not their fault and therefore they do not have to issue refunds. If it had been a schedule change or a voluntary cancellation on their part, you would be able to get a refund of the fare.
Also, for DL, CVG is their hub and generally trips starting or ending at CVG price out more expensive than trips. For example, I picked a random weekend in June and TUL-CVG rt was $50 more expensive than TUL-CVG-EWR rt.
This topic might be better suited to the Delta forum.
