We will also be having a more "traditional" dinner on Saturday, July 28. Please post here if you are interested in attending. Here are the details:

Meet prior to departure at: Hotel Lobby at the Intercontinental, located at 80 MIDDLE RD.

Meeting Time at hotel lobby: 8.30 pm on Saturday, July 28

Transport to Maxwell: Taxi is probably best, depending on numbers

Latecomers. Independent travel to Maxwell Hawker Centre, between 8:45 and (..well, depends really) 9:30pm

For anyone interested, mike_ant has offered to give a tour of SIN on Sunday, July 29, leading up to the dinner. As of now we will start at 12:30PM because that's when AJ gets to SIN, but if there is enough interest we could maybe start it a bit earlier and meet AJ somewhere, since the tour below would take a little longer than a 12:30PM start, but we can always cut stuff out. Here is what the tour would include:

We can meet in Intercontinental Hotel (in Bugis Junction), then we can take a walk (or bus) to nearby Kampong Glam. After that, if there are some people interested in electronics, we can go to Sim Lim Square. Otherwise, we can take taxis to Botanical Gardens (if people are interested).

From Botanical Gardens, can take a bus to Orchard Road (for a little sightseeing/shopping), otherwise we can head down to Chinatown. We can have lunch in Chinatown or Orchard area (Dim Sum, maybe?)

From there, there are a few options. Either we go to Little India (for a little overview of Indian culture), or, (maybe better), take subway to City Hall to go around the Esplanade (Singapore's version of Sydney's Opera House). From Esplanade, we can walk to the Merlion Park.

From there, if there's still extra time before dinner, we can go to Clarke Quay to try the reverse bungee (you said you wanted something fun ) It's pretty fun!

From there, we go to the dinner. If there's still energy left, we can do the Night Safari after dinner.
