As a fellow Washingtonian, I'd recommend you hang on to them for a little while.... you can add United miles to a Delta account, and United has plenty of flights from their hub at Dulles.

The Hilton option will always be there..... I don't see why you need to rush. You still have 3 years to do something with the DL miles.
