I always have great luck with Spirit's baggage service between DCA and DTW. Northworst takes about 20 minutes at DCA and 40 minutes at DTW to get your bags. With Spirit my bags are on the carousel by the time I make it to Baggage Claim. Plus I have never had lost luggage with Spirit and Northworst loses bags frequently.
