You do get access in Australia because the domestic flights are part of an international itinerary. In USA you get access for the same reason, but only if connecting, not after a stopover)
So to make it clear:
Australia: So I would get access at every leg even though the flights are a few weeks apart. MEL F lounge available as I am going to AKL. OW status not needed.
USA: I wouldn't get access as the flights are again a few weeks apart and not stopovers as such. OW status needed if I want lounge access.
