The only reason I'm going KLM is they & BA are about the only 2 that go to Africa, so I'm swapping a UA award for a KLM award w/ a friend. I'm not willing to push the friendship by asking for some miles for her to upgrade one way & she'll gift to him later from her account.

I'll tell her odds are slim to zip for her upgrade, & she should accumulate some more miles & then use them for an award ticket somewhere fun. She was going to use 25K this summer for GRR-SFO when the RT was $150, so I talked her out of that & told her to save the 25K.
